Talented hair stylist Claire Morley got to strut her stuff at Graduate Fashion Week recently as she took her own brand of styling to the catwalk with a team from industry giants L'Oreal.
The 26-year-old, who works at Contemporary Guisborough, was invited to co-direct the team alongside Herman Ho, who has extensive experience working on top shows and on photo shoots for Vogue and Elle.
The show took place at Earl's Court in London and the team was made up of 20 plus young hair stylists, who worked tirelessly backstage to create the latest catwalk hair for the 20 college shows and final Gala Awards Show. The looks were varied in
design and complexity; from on trend up do's to loose, natural
waves, luxury texture and avant garde styles. The team created 4
different hair styles for the Gala show: Crimped, full volume hair,
a wet "Just out of the Water" look, Luxury texture with centre parting
and loose waves, and a loose knot with low side parting and wispy
bits.
"At times it was difficult and exhausting, but it was well worth it," said
Claire, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
"To be asked to co-direct this event was a huge inspiration for me,
I was exposed to opportunities which will help me progress in my hairdressing
career and challenge my creativity."
The week culminated in the Gala show featuring the best collections from each college show handpicked by a team of esteemed judges including designers Alberta Ferretti and Betty Jackson.
Claire's route to the capital is one she frequently travels. She has extensive experience working on hair teams at London Fashion Week, hair shoots and heading up her own team for the Golden Shears Tailoring Awards.
