Manager of the Year Finalist
Contemporary’s salon manager has been shortlisted for one of hairdressing’s most prestigious prizes!
Amanda Day is a finalist in the Manager of the Year category at the British Hairdressing Business Awards. Widely regarded as one of the most important events in the hairdressing calendar, the Awards recognise the individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile and professionalism of the industry.
Amanda took on the franchise in 2011 after being made redundant from her career as a Finance Manager. Despite having no experience in the industry, under Amanda’s direction the salon has gone on to become the most successful of the salon group’s nine locations. Amanda also manages the company’s Yarm salon and has been named Manager of the Year an incredible three times at the Contemporary Annual Awards, also enjoying a hat trick of wins in the Salon of the Year category.
The news comes after Amanda submitted a detailed portfolio of her achievements to date. She’ll now undergo a face-to-face interview with a panel of hairdressing’s most respected names before the outcome is revealed at a black tie ceremony in London this September.
‘I’m delighted to have been shortlisted for this award’ says Amanda. ‘I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a salon. The nomination is very humbling but I can’t take credit for our success – it’s down to teamwork and the continued passion that my staff bring to the salon floor every day.’
Contemporary Managing Director Alan Simpson says: ‘This is wonderful news for the Contemporary group and much deserved. Amanda has worked hard to make the salon so successful, nurturing and motivating her team and driving the business forwards. I have no doubt she can bring the trophy home!’
Celebrating its 20th year, The British Hairdressing Business Awards is organised by hairdressing ‘bible’ Hairdresser’s Journal International. Hairdressing is big business in Britain, with more than 40,000 salon businesses contributing more than £7bn to the national economy and employing some 500,000 people nationwide.
